Ghazal 97

تویی که بر سرِ خوبانِ کشوری چون تاج

سِزَد اگر همهٔ دلبران دَهَندَت باج

دو چشمِ شوخِ تو برهم زده خَطا و حَبَش

به چینِ زلفِ تو ماچین و هند داده خراج

بیاضِ رویِ تو روشن چو عارِضِ رُخِ روز

سوادِ زلفِ سیاهِ تو هست ظلمت داج

دهانِ شهدِ تو داده رواج آب خِضِر

لبِ چو قندِ تو بُرد از نباتِ مصر رواج

از این مرض به حقیقت شفا نخواهم یافت

که از تو دردِ دل ای جان! نمی‌رسد به عِلاج

چرا همی شکنی جانِ من ز سنگ‌دلی؟

دلِ ضعیف که باشد، به نازکی چو زُجاج

لبِ تو خضر و دهانِ تو آبِ حیوان است

قدِ تو سرو و میان‌موی و بَر، به هیئت عاج

فِتاد در دلِ حافظ هوایِ چون تو شَهی

کمینه ذرهٔ خاکِ درِ تو بودی کاج

The sleep of that thy seducing eye without something is not

The curl of that thy dishevelled tress, without something is not.

Running from thy lip, was milk (in infancy) when I spake, Saying:—" This sugar round about thy salt-pan (mouth), without something is not: The fountain of the water of life is thy mouth

but On its lip, thy chin dimple, without something is not.

Be thy life long

for well I know The arrow of thy eye-lash in the bow, without something is not. 5. With the grief, the pain, the sorrow of separation, thou art distressed: O heart! this thy wailing and lamenting without something is not.

Last night, from the head of his street, the wind passed to the rose-garden

O rose! this rent of thy collar, without something is not.

Although the heart keepeth love's pain secret from the people, Hafiz! This weeping

eye without something is not. i. Couplets I to 4 are addressed to the beloved,

be chine zolf to machin o hanad dade kharaj

suade zolf siyah to hast zalamat daj

dahan shahde to dade ruaj ab khezer

lab cho ghande to bord az nabate masar ruaj

az in maraz be haghighat shafa nakhuahm yaaft

ke az to dard del ey jan! nemi-resad be 'elaj

chera hami shakni jan man ze sanag-deli?

del z'if ke bashad, be nazki cho zojaj

lab to khazar o dahan to ab hiuan ast

ghad to sarv o miyan-muy o bar, be hi'et 'aj

fetad dar del hafez havaye chon to shahi

kamine zar-ye khak dar to budi kaj
