Ghazal 84

ساقی بیار باده که ماهِ صیام رفت

دَردِه قدح که موسمِ ناموس و نام رفت

وقتِ عزیز رفت بیا تا قضا کنیم

عمری که بی حضور صُراحی و جام رفت

مستم کن آن چنان که ندانم ز بی‌خودی

در عرصهٔ خیال که آمد، کدام رفت

بر بوی آن که جرعهٔ جامت به ما رسد

در مَصطَبِه دعایِ تو هر صبح و شام رفت

دل را که مرده بود حیاتی به جان رسید

تا بویی از نسیمِ می‌اش در مشام رفت

زاهد غرور داشت، سلامت نبرد راه

رند از رهِ نیاز به دارالسلام رفت

نقدِ دلی که بود مرا صرف باده شد

قلبِ سیاه بود از آن در حرام رفت

در تابِ توبه چند توان سوخت همچو عود؟

می ده که عمر در سرِ سودای خام رفت

دیگر مکن نصیحتِ حافظ که ره نیافت

گمگشته‌ای که بادهٔ نابش به کام رفت

O Saki (Murshid)! bring wine; for the fasting month (the Ramazan) hath

passed. Give the goblet; for the season of name and fame hath passed.

Dear time hath passed. Come

let us repeat the omitted prayers Of a long life that without the presence of a goglet and of the cup (the Murshid) hath passed.

Like aloe-wood, how long can one consume in the torment of repentance

? Give wine. For life in the essence of raw madness hath passed.

(O perfect Murshid! with the wine of divine love), make roe intoxicated even so that from

selflessness I shall not know, In the plain of imagination, who hath come, who hath passed. 5.

In the small (hope) that a draught of Thy cup may reach us, In the inn (place of worship), every morning and evening

prayer to Thee hath passed.

To the heart that was dead, a great life reached the soul, Since into

its (the heart's) perfume-place a perfume (of wine of love), from Thy breeze, hath passed.

The Zahid had pride (of his devotion)

took not the path to safety: By the path of supplication, the Profligate (the holy traveller) to the House of Safety (Paradise) hath passed.

O Zahid! know (together are) — thou and Khilwat, and solitude, and need

For the lover (of God), order for perpetual ease hath passed.

The cash of the heart that was mine became expended in wine

It was counterfeit coin. Therefore into the unlawful it hath passed. 8.

dardee ghadah ke musme namus o nam raft

vaght 'aziz raft biya ta ghaza kanim

'omri ke bi hozur sorahi o jam raft

masatam kon an chenan ke nadanm ze bi-khudi

dar 'ras-ye khiyal ke amad, kadam raft

bar buy an ke jor'e jamt be ma resad

dar mastabee do'aye to har sobh o sham raft

del ra ke morde bud hiati be jan resid

ta buii az nasim mi-ash dar masham raft

zahed gharur dasht, salamat nabarad rah

rend az rah niaz be daralaslam raft

naghd deli ke bud mara saraf bade shod

ghalbe siyah bud az an dar haram raft

dar tabe tobe chand tavan sukht hamcho 'ud?

mi de ke 'omr dar sar sudai kham raft

digar makon nasihte hafez ke rah niaft

gamagashte-ey ke bade nabsh be kam raft
