Ghazal 83

گر ز دستِ زلفِ مُشکینت خطایی رفت رفت

ور ز هندویِ شما بر ما جفایی رفت رفت

برقِ عشق ار خرمنِ پشمینه پوشی سوخت سوخت

جورِ شاه کامران گر بر گدایی رفت رفت

در طریقت رنجشِ خاطر نباشد می بیار

هر کدورت را که بینی چون صفایی رفت رفت

عشقبازی را تحمل باید ای دل، پای دار

گر ملالی بود بود و گر خطایی رفت رفت

گر دلی از غمزهٔ دلدار باری برد برد

ور میان جان و جانان ماجرایی رفت رفت

از سخن چینان ملالت‌ها پدید آمد ولی

گر میانِ همنشینان ناسزایی رفت رفت

عیبِ حافظ گو مکن واعظ که رفت از خانقاه

پای آزادی چه بندی؟ گر به جایی رفت رفت

(O true Beloved!) If from the hand of Thy musky tress, a fault—— passed, it passed

And, if against us from thy dark mole, an act of tyranny — passed, it passed.

If, the harvest of one wool-clad (the Sufi), Love's lightning consumed, it consumed

If, against a beggar, the violence of the prosperous king passed, it passed.

If, from the Heart-possessor's glance, a load a heart bore, it bore

(If) between the soul (the lover of God) and the true Beloved (God) a matter passed, it passed.

From carpers, reproaches appear

but, If, among fellow-sitters, aught unfit passed, it passed. 5. In tarikat (love's path), is no grief of heart.

Bring wine (of love): Every (former) impurity (of thy

heart) that thou seest, when (into us), purity passed, it passed.

O heart! keep firm of foot. For love-playing, endurance is necessary: If a vexatious matter was, it was

if a tyrannous matter— —passed, it passed.

O admonisher! say: — "Censure not Hafiz who hath gone from the cloister." How bindest

thou the foot of a free one ? If to a place he passed, he passed. 5.

gar ze dast zolf moshkint khataii raft raft

var ze handuye shoma bar ma jafaii raft raft

barghe 'eshgh ar kharamne pashmine pushi sukht sukht

jowr shah kamran gar bar gadaii raft raft

dar tarighat ranajshe khater nabashad mi biyar

har kadurt ra ke bini chon safaii raft raft

'shaghbazi ra tahamal bayad ey del, pay dar

gar malali bud bud o gar khataii raft raft

gar deli az ghamze deldar bari bord bord

var miyan jan o janan majraii raft raft

az sokhan chinan malalt-ha padid amad vali

gar miyan hamanshinan naszaii raft raft

'eyb hafez gu makon vaa'z ke raft az khanghae

pay azadi che bandi? gar be jaii raft raft
