Ghazal 81

صُبْحْدَم، مُرْغِ چَمَن با گلِ نوخاسْتِه گُفْت

ناز، کَم کُن که در این باغ، بَسی چون تو شِکُفْت

گُل بِخَنْدید که از راسْت نَرَنْجیم وَلی

هیچ عاشِق، سُخَنِ سَخْت به مَعْشوق نَگُفْت

گَر طَمَع داری از آن جامِ مُرَصَّع، مِیِ لَعْل

ای بَسا دُر که به نوکِ مُژِه‌ات باید سُفْت

تا اَبَد، بویِ مُحَبَّت به مَشامَش نَرَسَد

هر که خاکِ دَرِ مِیخانِه به رُخساره نَرُفْت

دَر گُلِسْتانِ اِرَم، دوش، چو از لُطْفِ هَوا

زُلْفِ سُنْبُل به نَسیمِ سَحَری می‌آشُفْت

گفتم: «ای مَسْنَدِ جَم! جامِ جَهان‌بینَت کو؟»

گفت: «اَفسوس که آن دولتِ بیدار بِخُفْت!»

سُخُنِ عِشْق، نَه آن است که آیَد به زَبان

ساقیا، مِی دِه و کوتاه کُن این گُفْت و شِنُفْت

اَشْکِ «حافِظ»، خِرَد و صَبْر به دَریا اَنْداخْت

چه کُنَد؟ سوزِ غَمِ عِشْق نَیارَسْت نَهُفْت

At dawn, the bird of the sward (the necessarily existent One, God) spake to the rose (faithful men in the state of being beloved): — "Display less disdain; for, in this garden (the world) many a one like thee hath blossomed." The rose laughed saying: — " We grieve not

at the truth; but " No lover spoke a harsh word to the beloved." To eternity without end, the perfume of (divine) love reacheth not the perfume place of him Who, with his face, swept not the dust of the door of the tavern (the stage of love and of divine knowledge).

If thou desire ruby wine (the mystery of haklkat) from that begemmed cup (the Murshid), O many

the pearl (the tear) that it is necessary for thee to pierce with the point of thy eye-lash.

har ke khak dar meykhane be rokhsare naroft

dar golestan eram, dush, cho az lotf hava

zolf sonbol be nasim sahari mi-ashoft

goftam: ey masnad jam! jam jahan-binat ku?

goft: afsus ke an dolat bidar bekhoft!

sokhan 'eshgh, na an ast ke ayad be zaban

saghiya, mi dee o kutae kon in goft o shenoft

ashk hafez, kherad o sabr be darya andakht

che konad? suz gham 'eshgh naiarast nahoft
