Ghazal 77

بُلْبُلی، بَرگِ گُلی خوش‌رَنْگ در مِنْقار داشت

و اندر آن بَرْگ و نَوا، خوش ناله‌هایِ زار داشت

گفتمش: «در عِیْنِ وَصْل‌، این نالِه و فَرْیاد چیست؟»

گفت: «ما را جِلْوِه‌یِ مَعْشوق در این کار داشت»

یار اگر نَنْشَسْت با ما نیست جایِ اِعْتِراض

پادشاهی کامْران بود، از گدایی عار داشت

دَرنمی‌گیرد نیاز و نازِ ما با حُسْنِ دوست

خُرَّم آن کز نازنینان‌، بَخْتِ بَرخوردار داشت

خیز تا بر کِلْکِ آن نَقّاش‌، جان، اَفْشان کُنیم

کاین هَمِه نَقْشِ عَجَب در گَرْدِشِ پَرْگار داشت

گر مُریدِ راهِ عِشْقی، فِکْرِ بَدنامی مَکُن

شِیْخِ صَنْعان، خِرْقِه، رَهْنِ خانِهٔ خَمّار داشت

وَقْتِ آن شیرین‌قَلَنْدَر خوش که در اَطْوارِ سِیْر

ذِکْرِ تَسْبیحِ مَلَک در حَلْقِه‌یِ زُنّار داشت

چَشْمِ «حافظ»، زیرِ بامِ قَصْرِ آن حوری‌سِرِشْت

شیوِه‌یِ جَنّاتُ تَجْری تَحْتِهَا الاَنهار داشت

Blossomed is the red rose; and intoxicated is the nightingale;

(And given is) the invitation to merriment— — O Lovers, wine-worshipping!

The foundation of penitence that, firm as a rock, appeared, How the crystal cup (of wine) hath shattered it, behold! Bring wine! for, in the Court of the Independent One (God), Whether the (humble) shepherd or the (lofty) Sultan

whether sensible or insen- sible—(what matter?) Since there is necessity for departing from this Inn of two doors (this world,— one door of birth, the other door of death).

The gallery and the arch (the mode) of thy living, whether lofty (in ease) or low (in calamity)— —(what matter?) 5. Unattainable, is the place of ease without toil: Yes: with the

decree of calamity they (Fate and Destiny) established the " day of Alast." Grieve neither at existence nor at non-existence: Be thy mind, happy. For the end of every perfection that is— is non-existence.

o andar an barg o naua, khosh nale-haye zar dasht

gafatamash: dar 'eyne vasl-, in nale o faryad chist?

goft: ma ra jelve-ye ma'shugh dar in kar dasht

yar agar nanshast ba ma nist jay e'teraz

padshahi kamran bud, az gadaii 'ar dasht

daranmi-girad niaz o naz ma ba hosn dust

khorram an kaz nazninan-, bakht barkhurdar dasht

khiz ta bar kelk an naghghash-, jan, afshan konim

ka'in hame naghsh ajab dar gardeshe pargar dasht

gar moride rah 'eshghi, fekr badnami makon

sheykh san'an, kherghe, rahne khane khammar dasht

vaght an shirin-ghalandar khosh ke dar atuare seyr

zekre tasbih molk dar halghe-ye zonnar dasht

cheshm hafez, zir bame ghasre an huri-seresht

shive-ye jannato tajri tahtehaa alanhar dasht
