Ghazal 60

آن پیکِ ناموَر که رسید از دیارِ دوست

آورد حِرزِ جان ز خطِ مُشکبارِ دوست

خوش می‌دهد نشانِ جلال و جمالِ یار

خوش می‌کند حکایتِ عِزّ و وقارِ دوست

دل دادمش به مژده و خِجلَت همی‌برم

زین نقدِ قلبِ خویش که کردم نثارِ دوست

شکرِ خدا که از مددِ بختِ کارساز

بر حسبِ آرزوست همه کار و بارِ دوست

سیرِ سپهر و دورِ قمر را چه اختیار؟

در گردشند بر حَسَبِ اختیار دوست

گر بادِ فتنه هر دو جهان را به هم زند

ما و چراغِ چَشم و رهِ انتظارِ دوست

کُحلُ الجَواهری به من آر ای نسیمِ صبح

زان خاکِ نیکبخت که شد رهگذارِ دوست

ماییم و آستانهٔ عشق و سرِ نیاز

تا خوابِ خوش که را بَرَد اندر کنارِ دوست

دشمن به قصدِ حافظ اگر دم زند چه باک؟

مِنَّت خدای را که نیَم شرمسارِ دوست

This blackish (beautiful) one (Muhammad), all the sweetness (goodness, laudable

qualities, external beauty, internal excellence) of the world is with him.

The fair eye, the laughing lip, the joyous heart (each) is with him. Although those sweet of mouth (other prophets) are Sovereigns, yet He (Muhammad) is the Sulaiman of the age

for the seal (of prophecy) is with him.

The musky (dark) mole that is on that wheat-hued (fair) face, — The mystery of

that grain (of wheat), that became the highway robber of Adam, is— is with it.

My heart-ravisher hath set out on a journey. O friends! for God's sake, What shall I do with my wounded heart

for the plaister (of remedy) is with him. 5.

He (Muhammad) is fair of face, perfect in skill, pure of skirt; Verily the spirit of the Pure Ones is with him. With whom (of men void of

divine knowledge), can one discuss this matter, that that stoney-hearted One (the true Beloved), Slew us; and (yet) the (life-giving) breath of 'Isa (son) of Maryam is with Him.

Hafiz is of the believers. Hold him dear. For the forgiveness of many a

noble soul is with him. I. Couplets i and 2 form a kita band,

an pike namvar ke resid az diare dust

avard herze jan ze khat moshakbare dust

khosh mi-dahad neshan jalal o jamal yar

khosh mi-konad hekayat 'ezz o vaghare dust

del dadamsh be mozhde o khejlat hami-baram

zin naghd ghalbe khish ke kardam nasare dust

shokr khoda ke az madde bakht karsaz

bar hasbe arzust hame kar o bar dust

sire sepehr o dowr ghamar ra che akhtiar?

dar garadashanad bar hasabe akhtiar dust

gar bad fetne har do jahan ra be ham zanad

ma o cheragh cheshm o rah anatzare dust

kohl aljauahri be man ar ey nasim sobh

zan khak nikabakht ke shod rahagzare dust

maiim o astan-ye 'eshgh o sar niaz

ta khuabe khosh ke ra bord andar kenar dust

dashaman be ghasde hafez agar dam zanad che bak?

mennat khadai ra ke nayam sharamsare dust
