Ghazal 52

روزْگاری‌ست که سودایِ بُتان، دینِ من است

غَمِ این کار‌، نِشاطِ دِلِ غَمْگینِ من است

دیدنِ رویِ تو را دیده‌یِ جان‌بین باید

وین کجا مَرْتَبِه‌یِ چَشْمِ جَهان‌بینِ من است؟

یارِ من باش که زیبِ فَلَک و زینتِ دَهْر

از مَهِ رویِ تو و اَشْکِ چو پَروینِ من است

تا مرا عشقِ تو، تعلیمِِ سُخَن‌گفتن کرد

خَلق را وِردِ زبان، مَدْحَت و تَحسینِ من است

دولتِ فَقْر خدایا به من ارزانی دار

کاین کِرامت، سَبَبِ حِشْمَت و تَمکینِ من است

واعِظِ شِحنه‌شناس، این عَظِمَت گو مَفُروش

زان که مَنْزِلْگَهِ سُلطان، دِلِ مِسْکینِ من است

یا رب این کَعْبِه‌یِ مَقْصود، تَماشاگَهِ کیست؟

که مُغِیلانِ طَریقش، گُل و نَسْرینِ من است

«حافظ» از حشمتِ پرویز، دگر، قِصِّه مَخوان

که لَبَش، جُرْعِه‌کَشِ خُسروِ شیرینِ من است

Tis a (long) time since the passion for idols was my faith

The pain of this work, the joy of the sorrowful heart of mine is.

For beholding Thy ruby (lip), the soul-seeing eye is necessary

Where, this rank for the world-seeing eye, of mine is. Be my friend.

For the day's decoration and time's advancement, From the moon-face

of Thine and from the Pleiades-like tears—— of mine is.

Since Thy love gave me instruction in speech-uttering, The practice of

the people's tongue, the praise and the glory— of mine is. 5.

O God! keep for me the lot of poverty For this blessing, the cause of pomp and of power of mine

is. O admonisher, ruler-recogniser! display no pride For the lodging of the Sultan (the One God), the wretched heart of mine is.

O Lord! that Ka'ba of (my) object is whose place of entertainment, The

mighty thorn of whose Path, the rose and the wild rose—— of mine is.

From whom, learned Thy fancy liberality ? Perchance, Its guide, these Pleiades-like tears—— of mine is. Hafiz! utter not

again the tale of the pomp of (khusrau) Parviz, Whose lip, the draft-drinker of the sweet khusrau of mine is.

ruzgari-st ke sudaye botan, din man ast

gham in kar-, neshate del ghamgine man ast

didne ruy to ra dide-ye jan-bin bayad

vin koja martabee-ye cheshm jahan-bin man ast?

yar man bash ke zibe falak o zinte dahr

az mah ruy to o ashk cho paruine man ast

ta mara 'eshgh to, t'lime sokhan-gafatan kard

khalgh ra verde zaban, madhat o tahsine man ast

dolat faghr khadaia be man arzani dar

ka'in keramt, sababe heshmat o tamkine man ast

vaa'eze shehne-shanas, in 'azemat gu maforush

zan ke manzelgahe soltan, del meskin man ast

ya rab in ka'bee-ye maghsud, tamashagahe kist?

ke mogheilane tarighsh, gol o nasrine man ast

hafez az hashamte paruiz, degar, ghesse makhuan

ke labash, jor'e-kesh khosarve shirin man ast
