Ghazal 421

درِ سرایِ مغان رُفته بود و آب‌زده

نشسته پیر و صلایی به شیخ و شاب زده

سبوکشان همه در بندگیش بسته کمر

ولی ز تَرک کُله چتر بر سحاب زده

شعاع جام و قدح نور ماه پوشیده

عذار مغ‌بچگان راه آفتاب زده

عروس بخت در آن حجله با هزاران ناز

شکسته کسمه و بر برگ گل، گلاب زده

گرفته ساغر عشرت فرشتهٔ رحمت

ز جرعه بر رخ حور و پری گلاب زده

ز شور و عربدهٔ شاهدان شیرین‌کار

شکر شکسته، سمن ریخته، رباب زده

سلام کردم و با من به روی خندان گفت

که ای خمارکشِ مفلسِ شراب‌زده

که این کند که تو کردی به ضعف همت و رای؟

ز گنج‌خانه شده خیمه بر خراب زده

وصال دولت بیدار ترسمت ندهند

که خفته‌ای تو در آغوش بختِ خواب‌زده

بیا به میکده حافظ که بر تو عرضه کنم

هزار صف ز دعاهای مستجاب‌ زده

فلک جنیبه‌کش شاه نصرت‌الدین است

بیا ببین ملکش دست در رکاب زده

خرد که ملهم غیب است بهر کسب شرف

ز بام عرش صدش بوسه بر جناب زده

Arise! so that to the tavern, the sufi-khirka, we may take

(So that) to the bazar of idle tales, the ragged religious garment and idle talk,' we may take.

The ear, we closed

and, from the nonsense of the admonisher, escaped: Like those void of information, the reputation of idle tales, how long do we take ?

Since the morning cup, all the khilvatis take, At the door of the Pir of the tavern, the harp of the morning, we take. To the path towards the kalandar-profligates, journeying brought (us)

The ragged, religious, garment of wool, and the prayer-mat of idle tales, we take. 5.

If, in our path, the thorn of reproach, the Zahid plant,

Into the prison of retribution, him from the rose-garden, we take.

Of our stained, woollen, garment, shame be ours, If, with

this excellence and skill, the reputation of miracles, we take!

If the value of time, the heart establish not

and a work do not, Great the shame that, from this produce of times,—— we take.

From this vaulted roof, calamity raineth. Arise! That, from all calamities, shelter in the wine-house,-^—

we may take. In desire's desert (this ravishing world), to be lost at last how long?

(From the murshid) the path (of escape), we ask

perchance, the foot (of ap- proach) to great deeds we may take. i. Khirka.

ze shur o 'rabad-ye shahdan shirin-kar

shokr shekaste, saman rikhte, rabab zade

salam kardam o ba man be ruy khandan goft

ke ey khamarakshe mafalse sharab-zade

ke in konad ke to kardi be z'f hemmat o rai?

ze ganj-khane shade khime bar kharab zade

vesal dolat bidar tarasamat nadahanad

ke khafte-ey to dar aghush bakht khuab-zade

biya be meykade hafez ke bar to 'raze konam

hezar saf ze d'ahai masatjab zade

falak janibe-kesh shah nasarat-aldin ast

biya bebin malakash dast dar rakab zade

kharad ke malaham ghib ast bahr kasab sharaf

ze bam 'rash sadash buse bar janab zade
