Ghazal 41

اگر چه باده فَرَح بخش و باد گُل‌بیز است

به بانگِ چَنگ مخور مِی که مُحتَسِب تیز است

صُراحی‌ای و حریفی گَرَت به چَنگ افتد

به عقل نوش که ایام فتنه‌ انگیز است

در آستینِ مُرَقَع پیاله پنهان کن

که همچو چشمِ صُراحی، زمانه خونریز است

به آبِ دیده بشوییم خِرقه‌ها از می

که موسمِ وَرَع و روزگارِ پرهیز است

مجوی عیشِ خوش از دورِ باژگونِ سِپِهر

که صاف این سر خُم جمله دُردی آمیز است

سپهر بر شده پرویزنی‌ست خون افشان

که ریزه‌اش سر کَسری و تاجِ پرویز است

عراق و فارس گرفتی به شعرِ خوش حافظ

بیا که نوبتِ بغداد و وقتِ تبریز است

Friends! repentance of veiledness, the daughter of the vine (love)^— made: To the Muhtasib (reason, love's forbidder) she went

and by (God's) permis- sion the work (of loosening the knot from the feet of holy travellers) made.

From out of the veil to the (public) assembly she (love) came. Make ye (your- selves) pure of sweat of (the toil of separation from) her, So that to the companions (the accursed envious ones, full of fraud), ye may speak saying

— " Wherefore (is it that) farness (from us) she— made ?

" The (proper) place is that they take her in the bond of union (laying down as dowry their priceless life

and making themselves non-existent in her beauty), The daughter, intoxicated like this, (it was), who all this veiledness—— made.

O heart! give the glad tidings that, again, love's minstrel Expressed the

intoxicated path (of song), and the remedy of the intoxicated — — made. 5.

From the clay of my nature and the breeze of the beloved, the blossom blos- somed

From the leaf of the beautiful, red, odoriferous rose, joy, the night-singing bird (the Bulbul) made.

dar astine moragha' piyale penhan kon

ke hamcho cheshm sorahi, zamane khunriz ast

be ab dide bashuiim kherghe-ha az mi

ke musme vara' o ruzegar parhiz ast

majui 'ishe khosh az dowr bazhgune sepehr

ke saf in sar khom jamle dordi amiz ast

sepehr bar shade paruizni-st khun afshan

ke rize-ash sar kasri o taje paruiz ast

'ragh o fars garafti be she'r khosh hafez

biya ke nubte baghdad o vaght tabriz ast
