Ghazal 393

منم که شهره شهرم به عشق ورزیدن

منم که دیده نیالوده‌ام به بد دیدن

وفا کنیم و ملامت کشیم و خوش باشیم

که در طریقتِ ما کافریست رنجیدن

به پیرِ میکده گفتم که چیست راه نجات

بخواست جامِ می و گفت عیب پوشیدن

مرادِ دل ز تماشای باغِ عالم چیست؟

به دستِ مردمِ چشم از رخِ تو گل چیدن

به مِیْ پرستی از آن نقشِ خود زدم بر آب

که تا خراب کنم نقشِ خود پرستیدن

به رحمتِ سرِ زلفِ تو واثقم ورنه

کشش چو نَبوَد از آن سو چه سود کوشیدن؟

عنان به میکده خواهیم تافت زین مجلس

که وعظ بی‌عملان واجب است نشنیدن

ز خطّ یار بیاموز مِهر با رخِ خوب

که گرد عارضِ خوبان خوش است گردیدن

مبوس جز لبِ ساقی و جامِ می حافظ

که دستِ زهد فروشان خطاست بوسیدن

(O true Beloved!) every one, who regardeth the people of

fidelity (lovers of God), Him, in every state, from calamity God preserveth.

If desire be thine that the (true) Beloved should not (by severing asunder attach- ments to thee)

break the covenant, Keep (with respect) the end of the cord, so that (the covenant) He may preserve.

Save in the Friend's presence, I utter not the tale of the Friend

For the speech of the friend, the friend—— preserveth.

When I spake to him, saying: — " Preserve my heart" how (well)

he said: — "What ariseth from the slave's hand, God preserveth." 5.

My head, and gold, and heart, and soul a ransom for that

true Beloved. Who the right of society of love and of fidelity preserveth.

O breeze! If thou see my heart on that tress-tip, By way of kindness, speak to it (the heart)

that its own place it may preserve.

O heart! so live that, if thy foot slip (in

fault), With both hands in prayer, thee the angel may preserve.

be mi parasti az an naghsh khod zadam bar ab

ke ta kharab konam naghsh khod parastidn

be rahamte sar zolf to vaasaghm varne

kashash cho nabud az an su che sud kushidn?

'nan be meykade khuahim taft zin majles

ke va'z bi-'malan vaajb ast nashnidn

ze khat yar biamuz mehr ba rokh khub

ke garad 'arze khuban khosh ast gardidn
