Ghazal 359

خُرَّم آن روز کز این منزلِ ویران بروم

راحتِ جان طلبم و از پِیِ جانان بروم

گر چه دانم که به جایی نَبَرد راه غریب

من به بویِ سرِ آن زلفِ پریشان بروم

دلم از وحشتِ زندانِ سِکَندَر بگِرفت

رخت بربندم و تا مُلکِ سلیمان بروم

چون صبا با تنِ بیمار و دلِ بی‌طاقت

به هواداریِ آن سروِ خُرامان بروم

در رهِ او چو قلم گر به سرم باید رفت

با دلِ زخم‌کَش و دیدهٔ گریان بروم

نذر کردم گر از این غم به درآیم روزی

تا درِ میکده شادان و غزل‌خوان بروم

به هواداری او ذَرِّه‌صفت، رقص‌کنان

تا لبِ چشمهٔ خورشیدِ درخشان بروم

تازیان را غمِ احوالِ گران‌باران نیست

پارسایان مددی تا خوش و آسان بروم

ور چو حافظ ز بیابان نبرم رَه بیرون

همرهِ کوکبهٔ آصفِ دوران بروم

Love's pain, I have endured to such a degree-— that ask not

. Separation's poison, I have tasted in such a way—— that ask not.

In the world I have wandered; (and its good and bad; its heat and cold experi- enced)

and at the end of work, A heart-ravisher (the true Beloved), I have chosen so peerless that ask not.

In the desire of the dust of His door, in that way, Goeth the water (tears) of my eye

that ask not. Last night, from His mouth, with my ear, Words, I heard such that ask not. 5.

Towards me, wherefore bitest thou thy lip, saying -.—"Speak not," A ruby lip, I have bitten (kissed) such that

ask not. In the hut of my own beggary, without Thee, Sorrows, I have endured such—— that ask not.

In the path of love, like Hafiz the stranger, At a stage (of trouble), I have

arrived such— that ask not. i. " That ask not.' ' See Ode 31 2, c.

I. 6. Although ease and repose are in my dwelling, yet, even there,

without Thee, is no repose. 7. c_«JjC (poor) may be taken with:— (i) Hafiz.

(ii) " I have arrived." (iii) "stage." Like Hafiz in the path of love, stranger

ta lab chasham-ye khorshid darakhshan barum

tazian ra gham ahuale garan-baran nist

parsaian maddi ta khosh o asan barum

var cho hafez ze biaban nabaram rah birun

hamarhe kukab-ye asfe duran barum
