Ghazal 358

غمِ زمانه که هیچش کَران نمی‌بینم

دَواش جز مِیِ چون ارغوان نمی‌بینم

به تَرک خدمتِ پیرِ مُغان نخواهم گفت

چرا که مصلحتِ خود در آن نمی‌بینم

ز آفتابِ قَدَح ارتفاعِ عیش بگیر

چرا که طالعِ وقت آن چُنان نمی‌بینم

نشانِ اهل خدا عاشقیست، با خود دار

که در مشایخِ شهر این نشان نمی‌بینم

بدین دو دیدهٔ حیران من هزار افسوس

که با دو آینه رویش عیان نمی‌بینم

قدِ تو تا بِشُد از جویبارِ دیدهٔ من

به جایِ سرو جز آبِ روان نمی‌بینم

در این خُمار کَسَم جرعه‌ای نمی‌بخشد

ببین که اهل دلی در میان نمی‌بینم

نشانِ مویِ میانش که دل در او بستم

ز من مَپرس که خود در میان نمی‌بینم

من و سفینهٔ حافظ که جز در این دریا

بضاعت سخن دُرفشان نمی‌بینم

Last night (in the time of Muhammad) a messenger of news from His Highness Asaf

(the murshid)-^— came. From His Highness Sulaiman (the true Beloved), the order of joy—— came.

With water of the eye, make clay of the dust of our existence

To the heart's desolate mansion, the time of building — — came.

O thou wine-stained of garment! take care

conceal my defect: For, to visit me, that one pure of skirt (the true Beloved) came.

This endless explanation of the (true) Beloved's beauty, that they (men of know-

ledge) uttered, Is (only) a word out of thousands, that, into example, came. 5.

The place (rank) of every one of the lovely ones (the beloved

ones) becometh known to-day, When, to the chief seat, that moon, assembly-adorning,—— came.

On the throne of Jam, whose crown is the (lofty) sun's ladder of

ascent, Behold the spirit! notwithstanding (all) this contemptibility, a (feeble) ant (man) came.

neshan ahl khoda 'ashghist, ba khod dar

ke dar mashaikhe shahr in neshan nemi-binam

bedin do did-ye hiran man hezar afsus

ke ba do ayene ruish 'ian nemi-binam

ghad to ta beshod az juibare did-ye man

be jay sarv joz ab ravan nemi-binam

dar in khomar kasam jor'e-ey nemi-bakhashad

bebin ke ahl deli dar miyan nemi-binam

neshan muy miansh ke del dar u basatam

ze man mapars ke khod dar miyan nemi-binam

man o safin-ye hafez ke joz dar in darya

baza't sokhan dorafshan nemi-binam
