Ghazal 32

خدا چو صورتِ ابرویِ دلگشای تو بست

گشادِ کارِ من اندر کرشمه‌هایِ تو بست

مرا و سروِ چمن را به خاکِ راه نشاند

زمانه تا قَصَبِ نرگسِ قبای تو بست

ز کارِ ما و دلِ غنچه صد گره بگشود

نسیمِ گل چو دل اندر پیِ هوایِ تو بست

مرا به بندِ تو دورانِ چرخ راضی کرد

ولی چه سود که سررشته در رضای تو بست

چو نافه بر دلِ مسکینِ من گره مَفِکن

که عهد با سرِ زلفِ گره‌گشایِ تو بست

تو خود وصالِ دگر بودی ای نسیمِ وصال

خطا نِگر که دل امید در وفایِ تو بست

ز دستِ جورِ تو گفتم زِ شهر خواهم رفت

به خنده گفت که حافظ برو، که پایِ تو بست؟

When the form of thy heart alluring eye-brow, God established. In thy glances, the solving of my work, He— established. From my heart and

the heart of the bird of the sward, He took ease, When, in the morn, the heart of both in lament for thee, He established.

In the dust of the Path, me and the cypress of the sward,

it (time) planted, Since, a garment of fine nargasin cloth for thee, time established.

From our work, and from the heart of the rose-bud, a hundred knots (of difficul- ties) it (the breeze

of the rose) loosed, When, in desire of thee, its own heart the breeze of the rose established. 5.

With Thy bond, the sphere's revolution made me content

But, what profit, when, the end of the thread in Thy will, it (the sphere's revo- lution) established.

From Thy perfume, even one day, an expansion of heart gaineth, That

one, who, like the rose-bud, his own heart, in desire for Thee, established.

On my wretched heart, cast not a knot like the (twisted) musk-pod. For, with Thy tress, knot-loosening, a covenant it (my heart) established. O Breeze of union! thou thyself wast another life (like life without fidelity)

Behold my (heart's) fault that, hope in fidelity to Thee, my heart established.

(O beloved!) I said: — " On account of thy violence, I shall

depart from the city:" Laughing, the beloved spake saying:— " Hafiz! go.

khoda cho surte abruy dalagshai to basat

goshad kar man andar kereshme-haye to basat

mara o sarv chaman ra be khak rah nashand

zamane ta ghasabe narges ghabai to basat

ze kar ma o del ghonche sad gereh bagshud

nasim gol cho del andar paye havaye to basat

mara be band to durane charkh razi kard

vali che sud ke sararashte dar razai to basat

cho nafe bar del meskin man gereh mafekn

ke ahd ba sar zolf gereh-goshai to basat

to khod vesal degar budi ey nasim vesal

khata negr ke del omid dar vafaye to basat

ze dast jowr to goftam ze shahr khaaham raft

be khande goft ke hafez boro, ke pay to basat?
