Ghazal 309

عشقبازیّ و جوانیّ و شرابِ لَعلْ‌فام

مجلسِ اُنس و حریفِ همدم و شُربِ مدام

ساقیِ شِکَّردهان و مُطربِ شیرین‌سخن

همنشینی نیک‌کردار و ندیمی نیک‌نام

شاهدی از لطف و پاکی رَشکِ آبِ زندگی

دلبری در حُسن و خوبی غیرتِ ماهِ تمام

بَزم‌گاهی دل‌نِشان، چون قصرِ فردوسِ بَرین

گلشنی پیرامُنَش چون روضهٔ دارُالسَّلام

صف‌نشینان نیک‌خواه و پیشکاران باادب

دوست‌داران صاحب‌اسرار و حریفان دوست‌کام

بادهٔ گلرنگِ تلخِ تیزِ خوش‌خوارِ سَبُک

نُقلَش از لَعلِ نگار و نَقلَش از یاقوتِ خام

غمزهٔ ساقی به یَغمایِ خِرَد آهِخته تیغ

زلفِ جانان از برایِ صیدِ دل گسترده‌دام

نکته‌دانی بَذله‌گو چون حافظِ شیرین‌‌سخن

بخشش‌آموزی جهان‌افروز چون حاجی قوام

هر که این عِشرت نخواهد خوش‌دلی بر وی تباه

وان که این مجلس نجوید زندگی بر وی حرام

1 know not what is the intoxication that to us its face hath brought

Who is the cup-bearer? This wine, whence hath he^— brought ?

This minstrel, musical note understanding, how robbeth he (the heart of lovers of God) ? For, in

the midst of (singing) a ghazl (before lovers of God), talk of the Friend (God) he hath brought.

With glad tidings, the breeze is the lapwing of Sulaiman That, from the

rose-bed of Saba (the street of the true Beloved), tidings of joy brought.

To thy hand, bring thou alsojthe cup; take the path to the desert (and strive

in pleasure); For, the sweet melody of song, the melody-warbling bird hath brought. 5.

With welcome and happiness, be the arriving of the rose and of the wild rose

; The violet, glad and beautiful, hath come; and purity, the (pure) lily hath brought.

O heart! complain not of thy work (fortune) enfolded like the rose-bud

For the knot-loosening breeze (the Murshid), the morning wind hath brought.

The Sakl's smile is our feeble heart's remedy; Bring forth thy

hand. For the physician hath come; and the remedy, hath brought.

O Shaikh! Of me, grieve not (that) I am the disciple of the Pir of the Magians (the Murshid): For, (wine), thou promisedest (on the day of resurrection)

and (thy promise), he (the Murshid) to place hath brought.

majles ons o harife hamadam o shorb modam

saghi shekkaradhan o motreb shirin-sokhan

hamanshini nik-kardar o nadimi nik-nam

shahdi az lotf o paki rashke ab zendegi

delbari dar hosn o khubi ghirte mah tamam

bazm-gahi del-neshan, chon ghasre farduse barin

galashni piramonash chon ruz-ye daroalassalam

saf-nashinan nik-khah o pishkaran baadb

dust-daran saheb-asrar o harifan dust-kam

bade galarange talkh tize khosh-khuare sabok

noghlash az la'l negar o naghlash az yaaghute kham

ghamze saghi be yaghmaye kherad ahekhte tigh

zolf janan az baraye seyd del gasatarde-dam

nokte-dani bazle-gu chon hafez shirin-sokhan

bakhashash-amuzi jahan-afruz chon haji ghuam

har ke in 'eshart nakhaahad khosh-deli bar vai tabae

vaan ke in majles najuid zendegi bar vai haram
