Ghazal 297

زبانِ خامه ندارد سرِ بیان فِراق

وگرنه شرح دهم با تو داستانِ فِراق

دریغ مدت عمرم که بر امیدِ وصال

به سر رسید و نیامد به سر زمانِ فِراق

سری که بر سرِ گردون به فخر می‌سودم

به راستان که نهادم، بر آستانِ فِراق

چگونه باز کنم بال در هوایِ وصال

که ریخت مرغِ دلم پَر در آشیانِ فِراق

کنون چه چاره که در بَحرِ غم به گردابی

فُتاد زورقِ صبرم ز بادبانِ فِراق

بسی نَمانْد که کَشتیِ عمر غرقه شود

ز موجِ شوقِ تو در بحرِ بی‌کرانِ فِراق

اگر به دستِ من اُفتَد فِراق را بِکُشَم

که روزِ هجر سیَه باد و خان و مانِ فِراق

رفیقِ خِیلِ خیالیم و همنشینِ شَکیب

قَرینِ آتشِ هجران و هم قِرانِ فِراق

چگونه دَعویِ وصلت کُنَم به جان؟ که شده‌ست

تنم وکیلِ قَضا و دلم ضمانِ فِراق

ز سوزِ شوق دلم شد کباب دور از یار

مدام خونِ جگر می‌خورم ز خوانِ فِراق

فلک چو دید سرم را اسیرِ چَنبَرِ عشق

بِبَست گردنِ صبرم به ریسمانِ فِراق

به پایِ شوق گر این رَه به سر شدی حافظ

به دستِ هجر ندادی کسی عِنانِ فِراق

The breeze of love's perfume, I perceived

and, expectant of the flashing of the lightning of union, became: O (cool) breeze of the north! come: for, for the perfume of thy body, I die!

O song-uttering driver of the camels of the Beloved! stand, and alight

For, in desire of the Beloved's beauty, no patience is mine.

O heart! the complaint of the night of separation, let go

In thanks that the day of union hath up-cast the screen (of the night of separa- tion).

When the Beloved is in desire of peace

and excuse asketh, In every state, one can pass by (and pardon) the violence of the watcher.

In my straitened heart, is naught save the fancy of Thy (small) mouth: Like me, in pursuit of vain fancy, be none! Vexation with a piece of counsel from the Beloved (who is as my soul), I show not

For vexation with his own soul, (even) with effort, none sheweth.

Trodden by the foot of grief, perturbed, is my heart: Even as acquainted with its state is none. Slain by love for Thee, became the stranger, Hafiz, but, By our dust, pass

for lawful to Thee is our blood.

sari ke bar sar gardun be fakhar mi-sudm

be rastan ke nahadm, bar astan feragh

chagune baz konam bal dar havaye vesal

ke rikht morgh delam por dar ashiane feragh

konun che chare ke dar bahre gham be gerdabi

fotad zurghe sabaram ze badbane feragh

basi namand ke kashatye 'omr gharghe shavad

ze mowj showgh to dar bahre bi-karane feragh

agar be dast man oftad feragh ra bekosham

ke ruz hajr siyah bad o khan o mane feragh

rafighe kheile khialim o hamanshine shakib

gharine atash hejran o ham gherane feragh

chagune da'uye vasalt konam be jan? ke shade-st

tanam vakile ghaza o delam zamane feragh

ze suz showgh delam shod kabab dowr az yar

modam khun jegar mi-khurm ze khan feragh

falak cho did saram ra asire chanbare 'eshgh

bebast garadne sabaram be rismane feragh

be pay showgh gar in rah be sar shodi hafez

be dast hajr nadadi kasi 'enane feragh
