Ghazal 296

طالع اگر مدد دهد، دامنَش آوَرَم به کف

گر بکِشم زهی طرب، ور بکُشد زهی شرف

طرْفِ کرَم ز کَس نبست، این دلِ پُر امیدِ من

گر چه سخن همی بَرَد، قصهٔ من به هر طرف

از خَمِ ابرویِ توام، هیچ گشایشی نشد

وَه که در این خیالِ کَج، عمرِ عزیز شد تلف

ابرویِ دوست کِی شود، دست‌کشِ خیالِ من؟

کس نزده‌ست از این کمان، تیرِ مراد بر هدف

چند به ناز پرورم، مِهرِ بُتانِ سنگ‌دل

یادِ پدر نمی‌کنند، این پسرانِ ناخلف

من به خیالِ زاهدی، گوشه‌نشین و طُرفه آنک

مُغْبَچه‌ای ز هر طرف، می‌زندم به چنگ و دف

بی‌خبرند زاهدان، نقش بخوان و لاتَقُل

مستِ ریاست، محتسب، باده بده و لاتَخَف

صوفی شهر بین که چون، لقمهٔ شُبهه می‌خورد

پاردُمَش دراز باد، آن حَیَوانِ خوش علف

حافظ اگر قدم زنی، در رَهِ خاندان به صِدق

بدرقهٔ رهت شود، همتِ شَحنِهٔ نجف

(O true Beloved!) for God's sake, with khirka-wearers (hypocrites), little sit

From resourceless profligates (inwardly pure and clean) Thy face, conceal not.

In this khirka (of the austere zahids), is many a stain

O happy the time of the kaba of the wine-drinkers (void of stain)!

Thou art of delicate nature

and power hast not (to endure) The hardship of the handful of ragged garment-wearers. Among these Sufi-like ones, a pain (of love) I see not, Pure be the pleasure of the dreg-drinkers! 5.

Come; and the deceit of these hypocrites, behold

(Like) the flagon, (they have the) heart of blood (ruddy wine); (like) the harp, (they are a-) twanging.

When (by shewing Thyself) me, intoxicated Thou hast made, — veiled, sit not

When me, the sweet draught Thou hast given,— me, poison cause not to drink.

The lip of wine-hue and the intoxicated eye, open: For, from desire of Thee, foaming is the ruby wine.

Of the heart-ardency of Hafiz full of caution be: For a heart like the seething caldron, he hath. 2.

Than devotion, the deceit and treachery of profligacy is better. 5. In private, they are engaged with the delight of love of sensual

pleasures; which is the cause of the bloody heart; and, in public, they make tumult and uproar and woe is me!

tal' agar madad dahad, damnash avaram be kaf

gar bakeshm zhi tarab, var bakoshd zhi sharaf

taraf karam ze kas nabasat, in del por omid man

gar che sokhan hami bord, ghesse man be har taraf

az khame abruy tavam, hich gashaishi nashod

vae ke dar in khiyal kaj, 'omr 'aziz shod talaf

abruy dust key shavad, dast-kesh khiyal man?

kas nazde-st az in kaman, tire morad bar hadaf

chand be naz parurm, mehr botane sanag-del

yad padar nemi-konand, in pasrane nakhalf

man be khiyal zahdi, gushe-neshin o torfe ank

moghbache-ey ze har taraf, mi-zanadam be chang o daf

bi-khabaranad zahdan, naghsh bekhaan o lataghol

mast riast, mahatasab, bade bedeh o latakhaf

sufi shahr bin ke chon, lagham-ye shobhe mi-khord

pardomash deraz bad, an hayauane khosh 'laf

hafez agar ghadam zani, dar rah khandan be sedgh

badaragh-ye rahat shavad, hemmat shahne-ye najaf
