Ghazal 269

دلا، رَفیقِ سفر بختِ نیکخواهت بس

نسیمِ روضهٔ شیراز، پیکِ راهت بس

دگر ز منزلِ جانان سفر مَکُن درویش

که سِیرِ معنوی و کُنجِ خانقاهت بس

وگر کمین بِگُشایَد غمی ز گوشهٔ دل

حریمِ درگهِ پیرِ مغان، پناهت بس

به صَدرِ مِصْطَبه بنشین و ساغرِ مِی‌ نوش

که این قَدَر ز جهان، کسبِ مال و جاهَت بس

زیادتی مَطَلَب، کار بر خود آسان کن

صُراحیِ مِیِ لعل و بُتی چو ماهَت بس

فلک به مَردمِ نادان دهد زِمامِ مراد

تو اهل فضلی و دانش، همین گناهت بس

هوایِ مسکن مألوف و عهدِ یارِ قدیم

ز رهروانِ سفرکرده، عذرخواهت بس

به مِنَّتِ دگران خو مَکُن که در دو جهان

رضایِ ایزد و اِنعامِ پادشاهت بس

به هیچ وِردِ دگر نیست حاجت ای حافظ

دعایِ نیمْ‌شب و درسِ صبحگاهت بس

Where, the glad tidings of union with Thee, so that, from desire of life, I may rise? The holy bird (of paradise) am I

from the world's snare, I rise.

By Thy love (I swear) that, if me, Thy slave, Thou call,

Out from desire of lordship of existence and dwelling (both worlds), I' rise.

O Lord! from the cloud of guidance, the rain (of mercy) cause to arrive

Before that, from the midst, like a (handful of) dust, I rise. i.

On the face of the slab of the tomb of Hafiz at Shiraz, are inscribed the lines stated below

— Thy slave, I will be. For being Thy slave, I shall be possessed of such dignity that all other dignities will be as naught.

(O holy traveller!) at the head of my tomb, without wine and the minstrel, sit not

So that by thy perfume, dancing,-^— I may rise. 5.

Though I am old, one night me, close in Thy embrace take, So

that, in the morning, from Thy embrace, young— — I may rise. 439a.

dala, rafighe safar bakht nikkhuaht bas

nasim ruz-ye shiraz, pike raht bas

degar ze manzel janan safar makon daruish

ke seire m'nui o konje khanghaht bas

vagr kamin bogshayad ghami ze gushe del

harime darghe pir moghan, panaht bas

be sadre mestabe banshin o saghar mi nush

ke in ghadr ze jahan, kasbe mal o jahat bas

ziadti matalab, kar bar khod asan kon

sorahye mi la'l o boti cho mahat bas

falak be mardom nadan dahad zemame morad

to ahl fazli o dansh, hamin ganaht bas

havaye masakan maluf o ahd yar ghadim

ze rahruane safarakarde, 'zarkhuaht bas

be mennat dagran khu makon ke dar do jahan

razaye aizd o en'ame padshaht bas

be hich verde degar nist hajat ey hafez

do'aye nim-shab o darse sabahgaht bas
