Ghazal 249

ای صبا نَکهَتی از خاکِ رَهِ یار بیار

بِبَر اندوهِ دل و مژدهٔ دل‌دار بیار

نکته‌ای روح‌فَزا از دهنِ دوست بگو

نامه‌ای خوش خبر از عالَمِ اسرار بیار

تا مُعَطَّر کُنَم از لطفِ نسیمِ تو مَشام

شَمِّه‌ای از نَفَحاتِ نفسِ یار بیار

به وفایِ تو که خاکِ رَهِ آن یارِ عزیز

بی‌غباری که پدید آید از اغیار بیار

گَردی از ره‌گذرِ دوست به کوریِ رقیب

بهرِ آسایش این دیدهٔ خون‌بار بیار

خامی و ساده‌دلی شیوهٔ جانبازان نیست

خبری از بَرِ آن دل‌بر عیّار بیار

شُکر آن را که تو در عِشرتی ای مرغِ چمن

به اسیرانِ قفس مژدهٔ گل‌زار بیار

کامِ جان تلخ شد از صبر که کردم بی‌دوست

عشوه‌ای زان لبِ شیرین شِکربار بیار

روزگاریست که دل چهرهٔ مقصود ندید

ساقیا آن قدحِ آینه‌کردار بیار

دلقِ حافظ به چه ارزد؟ به مِی‌اش رنگین کن

وان گَه‌اش مست و خراب از سَرِ بازار بیار

O breeze from such a one's street, me, a perfume bring. Weeping and sad of grief, I am

me, ease of soul,—— bring: * For our profitless heart, strike out the elixir of purpose: That is:— From the dust of the Beloved's door (which is indeed an elixir), me, a trace— bring.

With my own heart, in the ambush-place of vision, is war

To me, an arrow and a bow fashioned from His (curved) eye-brow and (shoot- ing) glance bring.

In wandering, and in separation, and in grief of heart (I have spent my life; and now) I am become old

(So that from the present, freedom, I may obtain; and, for the past, compensa- tion), me, a cup of wine from the hand of a youthful one,— — bring. 5.

Two, or three, cups of this wine, cause the deniers to taste

And, if they take (them) not, running (with speed) to me,— — bring. O Saki! the ease of to-day, to to-morrow, cast not, Or, from Fate's book, me, the line of safety (that, till to-morrow, I shall live), — bring.

Last night, forth from the screen went my heart, when Hafiz said

— " O breeze! from such a one's street, me, a perfume, bring." 5°4 DIVAN-I-HAFIZ.

name-ey khosh khabar az 'alam asrar biyar

ta mo'attar konam az lotf nasim to masham

shammee-ey az nafahate nafas yar biyar

be vafaye to ke khak rah an yar 'aziz

bi-ghabari ke padid ayad az aghiar biyar

gardi az rah-gozar dust be kurye raghib

bahr asaish in did-ye khun-bar biyar

khami o sade-deli shive janbazan nist

khabri az bar an del-bar 'yayar biyar

shokr an ra ke to dar 'esharti ey morgh chaman

be asirane ghafas mozhde gol-zar biyar

kam jan talkh shod az sabr ke kardam bi-dust

'eshve-ey zan lab shirin shekarbar biyar

ruzgarist ke del chehre maghsud nadid

saghiya an ghadah ayene-kardar biyar

dalghe hafez be che arazd? be mi-ash rangin kon

vaan gae-ash mast o kharab az sar bazar biyar
