Ghazal 229

بخت از دهانِ دوست نشانم نمی‌دهد

دولت خبر ز رازِ نهانم نمی‌دهد

از بهرِ بوسه‌ای ز لبش جان همی‌دهم

اینم همی‌سِتانَد و آنم نمی‌دهد

مُردم در این فِراق و در آن پرده راه نیست

یا هست و پرده دار نشانم نمی‌دهد

زلفش کشید بادِ صبا چرخِ سِفله بین

کانجا مجالِ بادِ وَزانَم نمی‌دهد

چندان که بر کنار چو پرگار می‌شدم

دوران چو نقطه رَه به میانم نمی‌دهد

شِکَّر به صبر دست دهد عاقبت ولی

بدعهدیِ زمانه زمانم نمی‌دهد

گفتم رَوَم به خواب و ببینم جمالِ دوست

حافظ ز آه و ناله امانم نمی‌دهد

On the path to the wine-house (the stage of divine knowledge), in haste and speed, lovers

have The very same supplication as, on the road to Hijaz (the Ka'ba), pilgrims (have).

Through separation from Thee, away from the world, my body stitched its eye

To me, the hope of the fortune of union with Thee, again gave life.

After this, from the presence of the Friend (God), to no door, do I go: Since the Ka'ba, I have gained

from idol-worshipping, back I come.

From (my own) fortune, (in prayer) at the morning-time, I desire a night like this, That (in it),

the explanation of my own end (the desire of union with Thee) with Thee, I may begin. 5.

From desire of the assembly of that canopied moon, Hafiz! If violence reach- thee, like the candle consume

and be content. 3.

ya hast o parde dar nashanm nemi-dahad

zalafash keshid bad saba charkh sefle bin

kanja majale bad vazanam nemi-dahad

chandan ke bar kenar cho pargar mi-shodam

duran cho naghte rah be mianm nemi-dahad

shokr be sabr dast dahad 'aghabt vali

bad'hadye zamane zamanm nemi-dahad

goftam ravam be khuab o babinm jamal dust

hafez ze ah o nale amanm nemi-dahad
