Ghazal 226

ترسم که اشک در غمِ ما پرده‌در شود

وین رازِ سر به مُهر به عالَم سَمَر شود

گویند سنگ لَعل شود در مقامِ صبر

آری شود، ولیک به خونِ جگر شود

خواهم شدن به میکده گریان و دادخواه

کز دستِ غم خلاصِ من آنجا مگر شود

از هر کرانه تیرِ دعا کرده‌ام روان

باشد کز آن میانه یکی کارگر شود

ای جان حدیثِ ما بَرِ دلدار بازگو

لیکن چنان مگو که صبا را خبر شود

از کیمیایِ مهرِ تو زر گشت رویِ من

آری به یُمْنِ لطفِ شما خاک زر شود

در تنگنایِ حیرتم از نخوتِ رقیب

یا رب مباد آن که گدا معتبر شود

بس نکته غیرِ حُسن بِباید که تا کسی

مقبولِ طبعِ مردمِ صاحب‌نظر شود

این سرکشی که کنگرهٔ کاخِ وصل راست

سرها بر آستانهٔ او خاکِ در شود

حافظ چو نافهٔ سرِ زلفش به دستِ توست

دَم درکش ار نه بادِ صبا را خبر شود

I fear lest, in respect of our grief, tears, the screen-render— should

be, And, in the world, this sealed mystery a (revealed) tale should be.

They say the stone becometh, in the stage of patience, the (precious) ruby: Yes

it becometh. But (immersed) in blood, the liver should be.

From the watcher's pomp, I am in the strait of astonishment

O Lord! forbid that revered, the beggar should be. This arrogance, that is in the head of thy lofty cypress (-form), — With thee (in thy society), our short (feeble) hand within thy girdle, how should be. 5.

From every side, the arrow of prayer I have sped

. It may be that out of those arrows, a work-doer (effective), one should be.

This palace of empire whereof Thou art moon of form, At

its threshold, the dust of the door, heads (in supplication) should be.

From the alchemy of love for Thee, my (dusty) face became ruddy gold

; Yes; by the happiness of Thy grace, dust, gold should be.

Besides beauty, many a subtlety is necessary, so that a person,

Acceptable to the disposition of one possessed of vision, should be.

Weeping and justice-demanding, I will go to the wine-house For there, perchance, from grief's power, my release should be. 10. O Soul! utter our tale to the Heart-Possessor (God)

But do not so that to the breeze, news should be.

If one day a great grief should reach thee, be not strait-of-heart:

Go: offer thanks: God forbid that worse than bad should be.

O heart! be patient; surfer not grief. For in the end This (gloomy)

evening, the (sunny) morning becometh'; and this (dark) night, the (bright and rosy) dawn, should be.

ari shavad, valik be khun jegar shavad

khaaham shodan be meykade garian o dadkhuae

kaz dast gham khalase man anja magar shavad

az har karane tire do'a karde-am ravan

bashad kaz an miane yaki karagr shavad

ey jan hadis ma bar deldar bazgu

liken chenan magu ke saba ra khabar shavad

az kimiaye mehr to zar gasht ruy man

ari be yomne lotf shoma khak zar shavad

dar tanagnaye hiratm az nakhute raghib

ya rab mabad an ke geda m'tabar shavad

bas nokte gheyr hosn bebaid ke ta kasi

maghbule tab' mardom saheb-nazar shavad

in sarakshi ke kanagar-ye kakhe vasl rast

sarha bar astan-ye u khak dar shavad

hafez cho nafe sar zalafash be dast tost

dam darakash ar na bad saba ra khabar shavad
