Ghazal 210

دوش در حلقهٔ ما قصّهٔ گیسویِ تو بود

تا دلِ شب سخن از سلسلهٔ مویِ تو بود

دل که از ناوَکِ مژگانِ تو در خون می‌گشت

باز مشتاقِ کمان‌خانهٔ ابرویِ تو بود

هم عَفَاالله صبا کز تو پیامی می‌داد

ور نه در کس نرسیدیم که از کویِ تو بود

عالَم از شور و شرِ عشق خبر هیچ نداشت

فتنه‌انگیزِ جهان غمزهٔ جادویِ تو بود

منِ سرگشته هم از اهلِ سلامت بودم

دامِ راهم شِکَنِ طُرِّهٔ هندویِ تو بود

بگشا بندِ قبا تا بگشاید دلِ من

که گشادی که مرا بود ز پهلویِ تو بود

به وفایِ تو که بر تربتِ حافظ بگذر

کز جهان می‌شد و در آرزویِ رویِ تو بود

If, in thy religious order, the (shedding of the) blood of the lover is lawful (to us it is lawful)

Our rectitude is all that which is thy rectitude.

The black (hue) of thy hair (is) the explanation of " the Bringer forth of dark- ness." The white (hue) of thy face, the manifestation

of "the Splitter of the morning." From thy eye into the bosom, went flowing a (raging) stream, In the midst whereof, the sailor swimmeth not.

Thy lip, like the water of life, is the power of the soul: From him, our dusty existence is the taste of wine. 5.

Escape from the grasp of thy tress-noose, none gained:* Nor freedom from the little bow of thy eye-brow, and from the arrow of thy eye.

(O Zahid!) ever seek not from me rectitude, or penitence, or piety

From the profligate, and the lover, and the distraught, none sought perseverance in good.

With a hundred stratagems, the ruby of thy lip gave me no kiss

With a hundred thousand solicitations, my heart gained no desire from him.

What is the (worthless) cup ? Ever in recollection of thee, we drink ? Drinking, we drink a cup so big. A prayer for thy soul be the morning-prayer of the tongue of Hafiz

Be ever continual till evening and morning!

del ke az navake mazhgane to dar khun mi-gasht

baz moshtagh kaman-khane abruy to bud

ham 'afaaalle saba kaz to piami mi-dad

var na dar kas narsidim ke az kuy to bud

'alam az shur o share 'eshgh khabar hich nadasht

fetne-angize jahan ghamze jaduye to bud

man saragashte ham az ahl salamat budam

dam rahm shekane torre handuye to bud

bagsha band ghaba ta bogshayad del man

ke gashadi ke mara bud ze pahluye to bud

be vafaye to ke bar tarabte hafez bagazar

kaz jahan mi-shod o dar arzuye ruy to bud
