Ghazal 201
غزل شمارهٔ ۲۰۱
9 couplets
شرابِ بیغَش و ساقیِّ خوش دو دامِ رهند
که زیرکانِ جهان از کمندشان نَرَهَند
من ار چه عاشقم و رند و مست و نامه سیاه
هزار شُکر که یارانِ شهر بیگنهند
جفا نه پیشهٔ درویشیَست و راهرُوی
بیار باده که این سالکان نَه مردِ رهند
مَبین حقیر، گدایانِ عشق را کاین قوم
شَهانِ بی کمر و خسروانِ بی کُلَهند
به هوش باش که هنگامِ بادِ اِستغنا
هزار خرمنِ طاعت به نیمْ جو ننهند
مَکُن که کوکبهٔ دلبری شکسته شود
چو بندگان بِگُریزند و چاکران بِجَهَند
غلامِ همَّتِ دُردی کشانِ یک رنگم
نه آن گروه که اَزْرَق لباس و دل سیَهَند
قدم مَنِه به خرابات جز به شرطِ ادب
که سالکانِ درش محرمانِ پادشهند
جنابِ عشق بلند است همّتی حافظ
که عاشقان، رهِ بیهمّتان به خود ندهند
O Saki (Murshid)! be the coming of the 'Id (time of love's manifestations) aus- picious to thee
And these promises (that at the beginning of the mystic state) thou madest, let them not go from thy memory.
Cause the attendance of the daughter of the vine (wine) to reach (to the true Beloved). Say:— (From the bond of repute, and of name,
of outward wor- shipping, of solitariness and of moroseness) come out: For the breath of resolution of us (lovers) hath made thee free of the bond.
In astonishment, I am that, at this period of time of separation, Thou tookest up thy heart from the companions (lovers of God)-
and he (the lover) gave thee his heart.
Thanks to God that from this autumnal wind, no injury received Thy garden
of the jessamine, of the cypress, of the rose, and of the box-tree. 5.
Far, the evil eye! For, from that separation, happily brought back Thee, renowned fortune and mother-born luck. In the foot of
thy (happy) arrival, is the joy of the people of the assembly Grief's place be every heart that joy wisheth thee not!
Hafiz! From the hand, surrender not association with this Ark of Nuh (the perfect Murshid)
If not, thy foundation the deluge of vicissitudes (of the world) will take. i.
At the beginning of the state of austerity (which they arrange), it is the custom for practical Arifs and perfect Murshids to acquaint their disciples with the coming stages
and to give them glad tidings, by whose power like men they enter upon the Path. 2 A 2 I So DiVAN-l-HAFIZ.

sharab bi-ghash o saghi khosh do dam rahanad
ke zirkane jahan az kamanadshan narahand
man ar che 'ashaghm o rend o mast o name siyah
hezar shokr ke yaran shahr bi-ganahanad
jafa na pish-ye daruishyast o rahroui
biyar bade ke in salkan na marde rahanad
mabin haghir, gadaiane 'eshgh ra ka'in ghum
shahane bi kamar o khasruane bi kolahand
be hush bash ke hangame bad esataghna
hezar kharamne ta't be nim ju nanahanad
makon ke kukab-ye delbari shekaste shavad
cho banadgan begorizand o chakran bejahand
gholam hemmat dordi kashane yek ranagam
na an garue ke azragh labas o del sayahand
ghadam manee be kharabat joz be sharte adb
ke salkane darash maharmane padashahand
janab 'eshgh boland ast hamamti hafez
ke 'asheghan, rah bi-hamamtan be khod nadahanad
