Ghazal 183

دوش وقتِ سَحَر، از غُصّه نجاتم دادند

واندر آن ظلمتِ شب، آبِ حیاتم دادند

بی‌خود از شَعْشَعِهٔ پرتوِ ذاتم کردند

باده از جامِ تَجَلّیِّ صفاتم دادند

چه مبارک‌سَحَری بود و چه فرخنده‌شبی

آن شبِ قدر که این تازه‌براتم دادند

بعد از این رویِ من و آینهٔ وصفِ جمال

که در آن جا خبر از جلوهٔ ذاتم دادند

من اگر کامروا گشتم و خوش‌دل چه عجب؟

مستحق بودم و این‌ها به زکاتم دادند

هاتف آن روز به من مژدهٔ این دولت داد

که بِدان جور و جفا صبر و ثباتم دادند

این همه شهد و شِکر کز سخنم می‌ریزد

اَجرِ صبری‌ست کز آن شاخِ نباتم دادند

همّتِ حافظ و انفاسِ سحرخیزان بود

که ز بندِ غمِ ایّام نجاتم دادند

Last night, at morning time, me freedom from grief, they (Fate and

Destiny)—— gave. And, in that darkness of night, me the water-of-life they— gave.

Through the effulgence of the ray of His essence, me senseless, (and full of love for Him), they made

(In the world) from the cup of splendour of His qualities, me wine they—- gave.

It was a morning, how auspicious! and a moment how joyous!

That " Night-of-Power " when me, this new command (as to wine), they gave.

That day, me glad tidings of this fortune the invisible messenger gave

That in respect to that violence and tyranny, me, patience and endurance they gave. 5.

After this (together are)— my face and the mirror of the glory of Beauty

For in it, me news of His splendour they gave.

When through love for His face, I became senseless and distraught, Me, news of the

circumstance (of the destruction) of (the useless) Lat and of (the powerless) Manat, they gave.

vaanadr an zalamte shab, ab hiatm dadand

bi-khod az sha'sha'e-ye paratve zatm karadanad

bade az jam tajalalayye safatm dadand

che mabark-sahari bud o che farakhande-shabi

an shab ghadr ke in taze-baratm dadand

ba'd az in ruy man o ayene vasfe jamal

ke dar an ja khabar az jelve zatm dadand

man agar kamrua gashatam o khosh-del che ajab?

masatahagh budam o in-ha be zakatm dadand

hatf an ruz be man mozhde in dolat dad

ke bedan jowr o jafa sabr o sabatm dadand

in hame shahad o shokr kaz sakhanam mi-rizd

ajre sabri-st kaz an shakhe nabatm dadand

hemmat hafez o anfase sharkhizan bud

ke ze band gham ayyam najatm dadand
