Ghazal 171

دوش از جنابِ آصف، پیکِ بشارت آمد

کز حضرتِ سلیمان، عشرت اشارت آمد

خاکِ وجود ما را، از آبِ دیده گِل کن

ویران‌سرایِ دل را، گاهِ عمارت آمد

این شرحِ بی‌نهایت، کز زلفِ یار گفتند

حرفی‌ست از هزاران، کاَندر عبارت آمد

عیبم بپوش زنهار، ای خرقهٔ مِی‌آلود

کآن پاکِ پاک‌دامن، بهرِ زیارت آمد

امروز جایِ هر کس، پیدا شود ز خوبان

کآن ماهِ مجلس‌افروز، اندر صدارت آمد

بر تختِ جم که تاجش، معراجِ آسمان است

همّت نگر که موری، با آن حقارت آمد

از چشمِ شوخش ای دل! ایمانِ خود نگه دار

کآن جادویِ کمانکش، بر عزمِ غارت آمد

آلوده‌ای تو حافظ، فیضی ز شاه درخواه

کآن عنصرِ سَماحت، بهرِ طهارت آمد

دریاست مجلسِ او، دَریاب وقت و دُر یاب

هان ای زیان‌رسیده وقتِ تجارت آمد

Happy (is) the breeze, ambergris be-perfumed, a perfumed pastile, desired of

heart, That, in desire of thee, arose early the morning!

O bird of auspicious face (the murshid, perfect, excellent)! the road-guide be

For, from desire of the dust of that court (of God), water hath become my eye.

In recollection of my slender person, that is immersed in the blood (of grief) of

the heart, The new (slender crescent) moon, from the quarter of the (ruddy) crepuscule, they regard.

In love for thy (roseate) face, one day when, from this world, I depart,

From my tomb, the red rose in place of green herbage, shall blossom. 5.

That one am I who, without thee, breathe. What shame! Perchance,

thou mayst pardon. If not, the excuse for sin is what ?

In love's path, from thy friends, learned The dawn, that desire rent the black under-garment. For me (Hafiz), give not grief (access) to thy tender heart

For, this moment, thy Hafiz himself uttered bismi-llah (and in death departed). 4, The first line means: — Since, in love for thee, I have shed blood, and drunk the heart's blood, one day when, in love for thee, I die * * *

dush az janab asf, pike bashart amad

kaz hazarte saliman, 'sharat ashart amad

khak vajud ma ra, az ab dide gol kon

vairan-saraye del ra, gahe 'mart amad

in sharhe bi-nahait, kaz zolf yar gafatanad

harfi-st az hazaran, kanadr 'bart amad

'ibm bapush zanhar, ey kherghe mi-alud

kan pak pak-daman, bahr ziart amad

emruz jay har kas, pida shavad ze khuban

kan mah majles-afruz, andar sadart amad

bar takhte jam ke tajsh, m'raje aseman ast

hemmat nagar ke muri, ba an haghart amad

az cheshm shukhsh ey del! aimane khod negah dar

kan jaduye kamanaksh, bar 'zame ghart amad

alude-ey to hafez, fizi ze shah darkhuae

kan 'nasre samaht, bahr tahart amad

dariast majles u, daryab vaght o dar yaab

han ey zian-raside vaght tajart amad
