Ghazal 170

زاهدِ خلوت‌نشین، دوش به مِیخانه شد

از سرِ پیمان بِرَفت، با سرِ پیمانه شد

صوفیِ مجلس که دی، جام و قدح می‌شکست

باز به یک جرعه می، عاقل و فرزانه شد

شاهدِ عهدِ شباب، آمده بودش به خواب

باز به پیرانه سر، عاشق و دیوانه شد

مُغْبَچه‌ای می‌گذشت، راه‌زنِ دین و دل

در پِیِ آن آشنا، از همه بیگانه شد

آتشِ رخسارِ گُل، خرمنِ بلبل بسوخت

چهرهٔ خندانِ شمع، آفتِ پروانه شد

گریهٔ شام و سحر، شُکر که ضایع نگشت

قطرهٔ بارانِ ما، گوهرِ یک‌دانه شد

نرگسِ ساقی بِخوانْد، آیتِ افسون‌گری

حلقهٔ اورادِ ما، مجلسِ افسانه شد

منزلِ حافظ کنون، بارگهِ پادشاست

دل بَرِ دل‌دار رفت، جان بَرِ جانانه شد

Since the tavern, my fate, Ilah hath made O Zahid! in this matter, say mine, what sin ? That one, whose

portion in eternity without beginning, fell the cup of wine, On the resurrection day, against him, this sin, why charge they ?

To the Sufi, hypocrite, khirka-wearer, double of face, say: — " Long-handedness and short-sleevedness, — who hath practised ?" For hypocrisy, thou keepest wearing the (blue) kjjirka

That, by the blue garment, the slaves of God thou mayst take from the path. 5.

I am the slave of the spirit of profligates, headless, footless

Before whom, a straw both worlds are not worth. Since that, from the tavern, gained became my purpose, With the college and the cloister, black became my face.

Hafiz! go; a beggar of the door of every beggar, be not

Save by "the will of God," thy own desire thou gainest not.

zahed khalvat-neshin, dush be meykhane shod

az sar piman beraft, ba sar pimane shod

sufi majles ke di, jam o ghadah mi-shekast

baz be yek jor'e mi, 'aghel o farzane shod

shahed ahd shabab, amade budsh be khuab

baz be pirane sar, 'ashegh o divane shod

moghbache-ey mi-gazashat, rah-zan din o del

dar peye an ashna, az hame bigane shod

atash rakhsare gol, kharamne bolbol besukht

chehre khandan sham', afte parvane shod

gari-ye sham o sahar, shokr ke zai' nagashat

ghatar-ye baran ma, gohar yek-dane shod

narges saghi bekhuand, aite afsun-gari

halghe aurade ma, majles afsane shod

manzel hafez konun, barghe padshast

del bar del-dar raft, jan bar janane shod
