Ghazal 167

ستاره‌ای بدرخشید و ماهِ مجلس شد

دل رمیدهٔ ما را رفیق و مونس شد

نگارِ من که به مکتب نرفت و خط ننوشت

به غمزه مسأله‌آموزِ صد مُدَرِّس شد

به بویِ او دلِ بیمارِ عاشقان چو صبا

فدایِ عارضِ نسرین و چشمِ نرگس شد

به صدرِ مَصطَبه‌ام می‌نِشانَد اکنون دوست

گدایِ شهر نِگَه کُن که میرِ مجلس شد

خیالِ آبِ خِضِر بست و جامِ اسکندر

به جرعه‌نوشیِ سلطان ابوالفَوارِس شد

طرب‌سرایِ محبت کنون شود مَعمور

که طاقِ اَبرویِ یارِ مَنَش مهندس شد

لب از تَرَشُّحِ مِی پاک کن برایِ خدا

که خاطرم به هزاران گُنَه مُوَسوِس شد

کرشمهٔ تو شرابی به عاشقان پیمود

که عِلم بی‌خبر افتاد و عقل بی‌حس شد

چو زر عزیزِ وجود است نظمِ من، آری

قبولِ دولتیان کیمیایِ این مس شد

ز راهِ میکده یاران عِنان بگردانید

چرا که حافظ از این راه رفت و مفلس شد

The skirt-trailer (damsel) kept moving in cloth, gold-embroidered, In envy of her, a hundred moon-of-face, the collar of hempen cloth— rent

From the heat of the fire of wine, round about her cheek, sweat, Like drops of night-dew on the rose-leaf dropped.

A pronunciation, eloquent and sweet; a stature, tall and beautiful;

A face, gracious and heart-alluring; the eye (in a bow) sweetly drawn.

Her soul refreshing ruby (lip) of the water of grace born

The boxtree (stature), sweetly moving, in daintiness cherished. 5.

That heart-alluring ruby (lip) of hers, behold; and that laughter full of

ripple; That sweet moving of hers, behold; and that gait reposed.

Forth from our snare, that mistress, dark of eye, hath gone

Friends! what remedy may I make with this heart—— affrighted ?

Take care! so far as thou canst, injure not people of vision -t No fidelity, hath the world.

O light of both eyes! On account of that heart-fascinating eye, reproach how long shall I endure ?

One day, glance, O friend well—" chosen! On account of the Khwaja's service,

many the thanks that I shall utter, If to my hand fall that fruit matured.

lab az tarashshohe mi pak kon baraye khoda

ke khatarm be hazaran gonae movasves shod

kereshme to sharabi be 'asheghan pimud

ke 'elm bi-khabar oftad o aghl bi-has shod

cho zar 'aziz vajud ast nazme man, ari

ghabule dultian kimiaye in mas shod

ze rah meykade yaran 'enan bagardanid

chera ke hafez az in rah raft o mafalas shod
