Ghazal 156

به حسن و خُلق و وفا کس به یارِ ما نرسد

تو را در این سخن، انکارِ کارِ ما نرسد

اگر چه حُسن‌فروشان به جلوه آمده‌اند

کسی به حُسن و ملاحت به یارِ ما نرسد

به حق صحبت دیرین که هیچ محرمِ راز

به یارِ یک جهت حق‌گزارِ ما نرسد

هزار نقش برآید ز کِلکِ صُنع و یکی

به دل‌پذیری نقشِ نگارِ ما نرسد

هزار نقد به بازارِ کائنات آرند

یکی به سکهٔ صاحب عیارِ ما نرسد

دریغ قافله عمر کآن چنان رفتند

که گَردشان به هوایِ دیارِ ما نرسد

دلا ز رنجِ حسودان مرنج و واثق باش

که بد به خاطرِ امیدوارِ ما نرسد

چنان بِزی که اگر خاکِ ره شوی کس را

غبارِ خاطری از ره‌گذارِ ما نرسد

بسوخت حافظ و ترسم که شرحِ قصهٔ او

به سمعِ پادشهِ کام‌گارِ ما نرسد

To our friend (Muhammad), in beauty of disposition and of fidelity, one

reacheth not In this matter, to thee, denial of our work reacheth not.

By the right of ancient society (I swear) that any mystery

confidant To our friend, of one way (sincere), thank-offering, reacheth not.

Although, into splendour, have come beauty-boasters (the prophets, the leaders of the people, the guides of the

path), To our beloved (Muhammad, whose beauty was the world's boast) in beauty and grace, one reacheth not.

To the market of created beings, they (Fate and Destiny) bring a thousand coins

To the die of our master of assay, one (coin) reacheth not. 5.

From the Creator's reed, issue a thousand pictures

and one To the (degree of) approval of the picture of our idol (Muhammad) reacheth not.

O heart! grieve not of the reproach of the envious; and be firm; For, to our hopeful heart, evil reacheth not. Alas

! the Kafila of life (manifestations of glories) passed in such a way, That, to the air of our (far distant) country, its dust reacheth not.

So live that if thou (die and) become the dust of the path, to any one,

From our way (of life) a particle of dust (of grief) of the heart reach not.

be del-paziri naghsh negar ma narasad

hezar naghd be bazar ka'enat arand

yaki be sak-ye saheb 'iare ma narasad

darigh ghafle 'omr kan chenan rafatanad

ke garadshan be havaye diare ma narasad

dala ze ranje hasudan maranaj o vaasgh bash

ke bad be khater amiduare ma narasad

chenan bezi ke agar khak rah shui kas ra

ghabare khatri az rah-gazare ma narasad

besukht hafez o tarasam ke sharhe ghesse u

be sam'e padashhe kam-gare ma narasad
