Ghazal 150

ساقی ار باده از این دست به جام اندازد

عارفان را همه در شُربِ مُدام اندازد

ور چُنین زیرِ خَم زلف نهد دانهٔ خال

ای بسا مرغِ خِرَد را که به دام اندازد

ای خوشا دولتِ آن مست که در پایِ حریف

سر و دستار نداند که کدام اندازد

زاهدِ خام که انکارِ مِی و جام کند

پخته گردد چو نظر بر میِ خام اندازد

روز در کسبِ هنر کوش که مِی خوردنِ روز

دلِ چون آینه، در زنگِ ظَلام اندازد

آن زمان وقتِ میِ صبح فروغ است که شب

گِردِ خَرگاهِ افق پردهٔ شام اندازد

باده با محتسبِ شهر ننوشی زنهار

بخورد باده‌ات و سنگ به جام اندازد

حافظا سر ز کُلَه گوشهٔ خورشید برآر

بختت ار قرعه بدان ماهِ تمام اندازد

If the Saki (the true Beloved) the wine into the cup, in this way—

cast All the Arifs into (the way of) ever (wine) drinking, He will— cast.

If thus, beneath the curve of the tress, He place the grain of the

mole, O many a bird of wisdom, that, into the net, it will cast!

Happy the state of that intoxicated one, who (from exceeding intoxication) at the foot

of the rival, Head or turban, — knoweth not which off he will cast.

In desire (persistence) of denial, the Zahid immature of nature remaineth

Mature, he becometh when on the wine of the cup, his glance he casteth. 5.

By day, strive in the acquisition of skill. For wine-drinking by day,

The heart (bright) like the mirror, into the blight of darkness, casteth.

The time of wine of morning-splendour is that time when

night, The evening's screen around the tent of the horizon, casteth.

Take care thou drink not wine (of love) with the city-Muhtasib (reason): Thy wine he drinketh

and, into the cup the stone (of calumny), he casteth.

O Hafiz! with the (great) cup, a corner of the sun, bring forth thy

head (in splendour), If the dice for that full moon (the true Beloved), fortune casteth. 5.

ey basa morgh kherad ra ke be dam andazd

ey khusha dolat an mast ke dar pay harif

sar o dastar nadand ke kadam andazd

zahed kham ke ankare mi o jam konad

pakhte garadad cho nazar bar mi kham andazd

ruz dar kasbe honar kush ke mi khuradne ruz

del chon ayene, dar zange zalam andazd

an zaman vaght mi sobh farugh ast ke shab

gerde khargahe afgh parde sham andazd

bade ba mahatasbe shahr nanushi zanhar

bakhurd bade-at o sanag be jam andazd

hafeza sar ze kolae gushe khorshid barar

bakhatat ar ghar'e bedan mah tamam andazd
