Ghazal 147

نسیمِ بادِ صبا دوشم آگهی آورد

که روزِ محنت و غم رو به کوتهی آورد

به مُطربانِ صَبوحی دهیم جامهٔ چاک

بدین نوید که بادِ سحرگهی آورد

بیا بیا که تو حورِ بهشت را رضوان

در این جهان ز برایِ دلِ رهی آورد

همی‌رویم به شیراز با عنایتِ بخت

زهی رفیق که بختم به همرهی آورد

به جبرِ خاطرِ ما کوش کـ‌این کلاهِ نمد

بسا شکست که با افسرِ شهی آورد

چه ناله‌ها که رسید از دلم به خرمنِ ماه

چو یادِ عارضِ آن ماهِ خرگهی آورد

رساند رایتِ منصور بر فلک حافظ

که اِلتِجا به جنابِ شهنشهی آورد

If lawful the need of profligates, the wine-seller maketh, His sin, God forgiveth

and, repelling of calamity maketh. Saki! give wine in the cup of justice, so that the beggar Gather not jealousy (such) that, the world full of dalamity, he maketh.

Minstrel! thy lyre, play: — " Without death, none died." This melody, who chanteth not, mistake maketh. Sage! if before thee come sorrow or ease, Ascribe not toother (than God)

for these, God maketh. 5.

In the workshop, wherein is no path to reason and

excellence, An arrogant judgment, why (is it that) weak imagination maketh?

O God! the glad tidings of safety from these griefs (the calamities of Shaitan's deceit) may arrive, If,

fidelity in the covenant of trust (that, in eternity without beginning, he made with Thee), the holy traveller maketh.

Since love's pain is ours, and the calamity of wine-sickness, (Its remedy),

either the ruby (lip) of the beloved, or the pure wine maketh.

In the desire of wine, life passed

and in love Hafiz consumed: Where is one of 'Isa-breath (life-giving) that our reviving maketh. 5.

The discovery of mysteries and of divine knowledge

is not the work of a weak imagination.

nasim bad saba dushm aghi avard

ke ruz mahanat o gham ru be kuthi avard

be motarbane sabuhi dahim jam-ye chak

bedin nuid ke bad sharghi avard

biya biya ke to hure behesht ra razuan

dar in jahan ze baraye del rahi avard

hami-ruim be shiraz ba 'naite bakht

zhi rafigh ke bakhatam be hamarhi avard

be jabre khater ma kush k-in kalahe namad

basa shekast ke ba afasre shahi avard

che nale-ha ke resid az delam be kharamne mah

cho yad 'arze an mah kharghi avard

rasand raite mansur bar falak hafez

ke elteja be janab shahanashhi avard
