Ghazal 141

دیدی ای دل که غمِ عشق دگربار چه کرد؟

چون بشد دلبر و با یارِ وفادار چه کرد

آه از آن نرگسِ جادو که چه بازی انگیخت

آه از آن مست که با مردمِ هشیار چه کرد

اشکِ من رنگِ شفق یافت ز بی‌مِهری یار

طالعِ بی‌شفقت بین که در این کار چه کرد

برقی از منزلِ لیلی بدرخشید سحر

وَه که با خرمنِ مجنونِ دل‌افگار چه کرد

ساقیا جامِ مِی‌ام دِه که نگارندهٔ غیب

نیست معلوم که در پردهٔ اسرار چه کرد

آن که پُرنقش زد این دایرهٔ مینایی

کس ندانست که در گردشِ پرگار چه کرد

فکرِ عشق آتشِ غم در دلِ حافظ زد و سوخت

یارِ دیرینه ببینید که با یار چه کرد

O heart! the grief of love, again, thou sawest what it did, When the heart-ravisher went

and with the beloved, fidelity.observing, what it did.

Alas! what play (and calamities), that narcissus, the sorcerer, excited

Alas! with men of sense (in making them senseless) that intoxicated (eye), what it did.

From the mercilessness of the beloved, my tears gained the colour of (ruddy) twilight

In this work (of love), behold my compassionless fortune what it did.

In the morning, from Laila's dwelling, lightning flashed

Alas! with the harvest (of existence) of Majnfln, heart-rent what it did. 5.

O Saki (Murshid)! give me a cup of wine (that I may drink of divine know- ledge

and, in His love, make myself non-existent).

For the hidden writer (God) None knoweth in the revolution of the compass, what He did. That one (God) who expressed

this azure vault (the sky) on the picture — In the screen of mysteries, evident it is not what He did.

Into Hafiz's heart, the thought of love struck the fire of grief

and consumed it: With the lover, behold ye the ancient Friend (God) what He did. 6.

ah az an narges jadu ke che bazi angikht

ah az an mast ke ba mardom hashiar che kard

ashk man rang shafagh yaaft ze bi-mehri yar

tal'e bi-shafaghat bin ke dar in kar che kard

barghi az manzel lili badarakhshid sahar

vae ke ba kharamne majnune del-afgar che kard

saghiya jam mi-am dee ke nagaranad-ye ghib

nist m'lum ke dar parde asrar che kard

an ke poranaghsh zad in dair-ye minaii

kas nadanast ke dar garadshe pargar che kard

fekr 'eshgh atash gham dar del hafez zad o sukht
