Ghazal 131

بیا که تُرکِ فلک خوانِ روزه غارت کرد

هلالِ عید به دورِ قدح اشارت کرد

ثوابِ روزه و حجِّ قبول آن کس بُرد

که خاکِ میکدهٔ عشق را زیارت کرد

مُقامِ اصلیِ ما گوشهٔ خرابات است

خداش خیر دهاد آن که این عمارت کرد

بهایِ بادهٔ چون لعل چیست؟ جوهرِ عقل

بیا که سود کسی بُرد، کاین تجارت کرد

نماز در خَمِ آن ابروانِ محرابی

کسی کُنَد که به خونِ جگر طهارت کرد

فغان که نرگس جَمّاشِ شیخِ شهر امروز

نظر به دُردکشان از سرِ حقارت کرد

به رویِ یار نظر کن ز دیده مِنّت دار

که کاردیده، نظر از سرِ بِصارت کرد

حدیثِ عشق ز حافظ شنو نه از واعظ

اگر چه صنعتِ بسیار در عبارت کرد

(O Minstrel!) play a note, at the melody whereof, a great sigh (of rapture from the body), - one can cast

Utter a verse, whereby the heavy cup of wine (on the earth) - one can cast.

If at the (true) Beloved's threshold, one can lay one's head, To the sky, the shout of loftiness,

one can cast. In (exchange for) one glance (of the true Beloved's), men of vision stake two worlds.

Tis love; and, on life's cast, the first stake, - one can cast. Not contained in the cloisters are

the mysteries of love-play (and of intoxica- tion) (For only) with magians, the cup of magian wine one can cast, 5.

On the resolution of a great sovereign, a great omen, make. What knowest

thou! Possibly, from the midst of this, the ball of opportunity— one can cast.

The victuals of the king's palace are not for the Darvish: Old and ragged-clad are we upon whom fire - one can cast. The sum total

of our desire is — love, youth, and profligacy: When (luminous) the senses become (like) the (luminous) candle, the ball of explanation, - one can cast.

(O true Beloved!) the highwayman of safety became Thy tress. This is

no wonder. If Thou be highwayman, a hundred Karvans, - one can waylay.

From shame, I am in the veil. Saki! do me a little kindness (give

me wine) It may be that, on that mouth, some kisses, one can cast. 10.

If the Beloved's shadow fall on the stream (of tears) of my

eye, On the dust of His thoroughfare, running water one can cast.

biya ke tork falak khan ruze ghart kard

halale 'id be dowr ghadah ashart kard

suabe ruze o hajje ghabul an kas bord

ke khak meykade 'eshgh ra ziart kard

moghame asalye ma gushe kharabat ast

khadash khir dahad an ke in 'mart kard

bahaye bade chon la'l chist? juhre aghl

biya ke sud kasi bord, ka'in tajart kard

namaz dar khame an abruane mahrabi

kasi konad ke be khun jegar tahart kard

faghan ke narges jammashe sheykh shahr emruz

nazar be doradakshan az sar haghart kard

be ruy yar nazar kon ze dide mennat dar

ke kardide, nazar az sar besart kard

hadis 'eshgh ze hafez shanu na az vaa'z

agar che san'te besyar dar 'bart kard
