Ghazal 129

اگر نه باده غمِ دل ز یادِ ما بِبَرَد

نهیبِ حادثه بنیادِ ما ز جا بِبَرَد

اگر نه عقل به مستی فروکَشَد لنگر

چگونه کَشتی از این وَرطِهٔ بلا ببرد

فغان که با همه کس غایبانه باخت فلک

که کس نبود که دستی از این دَغا ببرد

گذار بر ظلمات است، خِضْرِ راهی کو؟

مباد کآتش محرومی آبِ ما ببرد

دل ضعیفم از آن می‌کَشَد به طَرْفِ چمن

که جان ز مرگ به بیماریِ صبا ببرد

طبیبِ عشق منم باده دِه که این معجون

فَراغت آرد و اندیشهٔ خطا ببرد

بسوخت حافظ و کس حالِ او به یار نگفت

مگر نسیم پیامی خدای را ببرد

Love's path is a Path whereof the shore— — is none: And there, unless they surrender their soul, remedy— is none. With reason's prohibition (of wine), affright us not

and bring wine: In our Land, the work of the watchman (reason), work- is none.

Every moment that to love thou givest thy heart is a happy moment, In

the right work, need of praying to God to be directed aright is none.

Ask thou thy own eye——" Who draweth us " ? O soul! the sin of fortune and the crime of the star is none. 5. Him (the true Beloved), one can see with the pure eye like the (hardly visible) crescent moon

The place of splendour of that moon-fragment, every eye is not.

Reckon as plunder the path of profligacy. For this track, Like

the path to the (hidden) treasure, evident to every one^— is not.

In no way, Hafiz's weeping affected thee Astonishment (is) mine at

that heart, which less hard than the (hard) stone is not.

agar na bade gham del ze yad ma bebarad

nahibe hadse bonyad ma ze ja bebarad

agar na aghl be masti farukashad lanagar

chagune kashti az in varte-ye bala bebarad

faghan ke ba hame kas ghaibane bakht falak

ke kas nabud ke dasti az in dagha bebarad

gazar bar zalmat ast, khezre rahi ku?

mabad katsh mahrumi ab ma bebarad

del z'ifm az an mi-kashad be taraf chaman

ke jan ze marg be bimarye saba bebarad

tabibe 'eshgh manam bade dee ke in m'jun

faraght arad o andish-ye khata bebarad

besukht hafez o kas hal u be yar nagafat

magar nasim piami khadai ra bebarad
